Monday Morning Manna: Shared Sufferings

Suffering is better shared than endured alone. On Wednesday, August 10 my wife, Joanne fell on her hip. First x-rays showed no broken bones. Pain increased daily. In a later visit to the Dr. it was decided she had a hernia. Exam by hernia surgeon showed very small hernia, not needing surgery, so she was sent for a CT scan. Scan showed impacted fracture of the pelvis. Sent to ER to be admitted for surgery. The Orthopedic surgeon on call requested an internal scan to see if fracture was displaced or not. Results showed a small fracture of the pelvis. We were sent home from the ER with stronger pain med prescription, and told there would be no surgery. The next day the Orthopedic Surgeon said Joanne needed surgery. We met with a new orthopedic surgeon, and were checked in to the hospital. Surgery was performed yesterday. Following several days in the hospital, and a few in a Rehab facility, she must remain off her feet for three months. Lifestyle changes coming for us. In the midst of this, my internet verse for the day was 2 Corinthians 1:7, “Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our consolation.” Shared sufferings! What a timely blessing!
