The CNBC is a network of churches covenanting together to give themselves away to advance the kingdom of God Held together by a commitment to evangelism and missions as well as foundational biblical convictions, we intentionally reject a “lone ranger” mentality and value working inter-dependently

The CNBC partners with local associations in each province to facilitate the a liation process Although these are distinct entities they work in close partnership to serve our churches We would highly encourage you to work through your local association as a rst step to a liating with the CNBC If you are in an area that does not have a local association, feel free to contact the CNBC national office: affiliation@cnbc.ca or 1-888-442-2272.

  1. Your church becomes part of a family of churches across Canada Together, these churches can do more than alone We share Christ, start and strengthen churches as well as send churches and missionaries across Canada and around the world

  3. Your church becomes a part of one of the most focused church-starting movements in Canada

  2. A liated churches are invited to send messengers to the CNBC annual convention
  3. Your church will become a part of a larger family that is one of the world’s largest mission sending groups
Steps to Affiliation
  1. Print out the application form, or print the entire booklet containing this page’s information and pull out the application from included in the centre of the booklet
  2. Church sends completed form along with the following to either their local associational moderator or the CNBC office (whoever they have a relational contact with):
    1. Constitution and By-Laws
    2. Statement of Faith (if not in constitution and by-laws)
    3. Record of vote of congregation requesting a liation
    4. Vital information as requested on the form
    5. Affirmation of the CNBC Mission, Vision, Values and Church to Church Covenant. This should be done at least 30 days in advance of the next annual meeting

  3. The application for a liation form will be forwarded to the Credentials Committee of the local association and the CNBC for consideration and recommendation
  4. The local association and the CNBC Credentials Committee will bring a recommendation for the church to a liate with the CNBC family of churches at the next annual meeting of the association and CNBC convention New churches will be recognized and messengers seated at the opening session of these meetings

Glossary of Terms

Seed – A group, with a leader, that intends to become a congregation at some future date

Congregation – A CNBC seed becomes a Congregation when the group self-determines that it is a fully functioning congregation as de ned below

  • recognizes the authority of the Bible as the sole basis of faith and practice
  • affirms salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord
  • offers membership to regenerated and baptized believers
  • meets regularly to worship and carry out the Great Commission
  • practices the two ordinances of believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s supper
  • encourages members to covenant together for mutual accountability
  • has Scriptural leaders
  • cooperates with the CNBC missions, vision and values

Affiliated congregation – a congregation with the above characteristics that has submitted its constitution and statement of faith and been ac- cepted as a part of the CNBC

Convention – The CNBC is a family of churches bound together by a shared mission, vision, values, beliefs and covenant These congrega- tions have accepted the challenge to give themselves away to advance the kingdom of God

Messenger – a person sent by an a liated church to prayerfully seek God’s will during the annual convention of the CNBC Messengers are not instructed beforehand on how they should vote on convention issues

Association – a fellowship of churches on mission in a particular region or a shared a nity The churches in the association are free and autonomous They choose to unite in a partnership. While our churches are diverse, they share a common theology Thus, they link together in fellowship .They are a family of churches —supporting, encouraging and caring for one another. They also share a common commitment to be Christ-focused, on-mission churches

Covenant – a relational document expressing our desire to relate together as inter-dependent churches It is our commitment to one another to invite and encourage the support and help that comes from being a part of a family of churches

CNBC Church to Church Covenant

Given that we are a network of churches who give ourselves away to advance the Kingdom of God, we value the importance of being in covenant. We recognize the autonomy of the local church and will guard the ability of every congregation to have the final decision-making authority. We also see the Biblical model of inter-dependence and accountability and we will grant congregational access to other churches and leaders Therefore, being led by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to God and to one another to live out the following:

We as churches covenant together to affirm the CHURCH as God’s primary vehicle to advance His Kingdom
  • by committing to share Christ, send missionaries, start and strengthen churches
  • by connecting churches in association
  • by valuing the contribution of every church as unique and significant
We as churches covenant together to honour the rich HERITAGE God has given us
  • by upholding our commitment to the CNBC Statement of Faith
  • by being on mission with other CNBC churches
  • by partnering with the agencies and churches of the Southern Baptist Convention
We as churches covenant together to practice God’s desire for INTER-DEPENDENCE
  • by realizing we can do more together than alone
  • by accepting responsibility for one another
  • by giving sacrificially through the Cooperative Program
We as churches covenant together to welcome God’s protection found in ACCOUNTABILITY
  • by initiating dialogue with churches and leaders in times of need
  • by welcoming the assistance of our churches and leaders in times of crisis
  • by praying together for forgiveness and restoration in times of moral failure or spiritual distress
We as churches covenant together to protect the UNITY of our churches
  • by praying for one another
