Pray with Thanksgiving…
We are thankful for the baptism planned this morning at The Point as they celebrate the first baptism of their new church plant, NextGen Church.
Testimony coming from Canvas Church
Yesterday morning I was meeting with a man who started attending Canvas two months ago with his family. He moved to Victoria 11 years ago from Vancouver. He shared with me that his family has been looking for a church in Victoria for 11 years. They decided two years ago that they were going to move back to Vancouver because they they couldn’t find a church for their family and loved their church on the mainland. Yesterday at breakfast he told me, “you have messed up our plans to move back to Vancouver to find a church. We found Canvas, fell in love with it and now are staying in Victoria.” I can’t tell you how many people have said, “we have been looking for a life-giving, Bible teaching, community blessing church for years.” Dozens! Thank you for praying for us and for investing so that we have an opportunity to be an expression of the Body of Christ for the people in Victoria! Please lift us up tonight as we host a Christmas party at our house for more than 50 people who serve as volunteers at Canvas!
We are thankful for the leadership team of over 25 commissioned for ministry through Richmond Chinese Christian Gospel last weekend.
We are thankful for the first AGM, affirmation of leadership and adoption of vision conducted by Urban Village last Sunday.
We are thankful for the evening of celebration and ministry at Towers Baptist Church last Sunday evening featuring the local senior secondary band and several from the community as the gospel was presented.
We are continuing to pray for Brian, the burn victim, whose condition as improved this week.
Pray for the activity of God…
We are praying Christmas outreach of the River Community as they seek to invite neighbours for an evening fellowship and witness tonight.
We are praying for the follow-up of the Christmas outreach on Vancouver Island carried out last night by Linh-An Vietnamese church in Victoria.
We are praying for the generous final year end giving of all the partners of our city in order the meet the needs of planter families and the ministries for the coming year and during this important season.
We are praying for the children of each of our pastoral leaders. Pray these children will experience the presence and love of God in a special way this Christmas. This can be one of the most hectic seasons of ministry during the year. Pray for the Fathers to have eyes to see and meet the needs of their children also.
We are praying for the leadership couples of our churches on Vancouver Island as they gather for a time of fellowship and encouragement on Tuesday evening. Pray this will be a time of affirming these key leaders as well as strengthening them for the tasks ahead.
Pray these words over our cities…
Pray for the encouragement of our leaders as they walk with God. Let them walk in the encouragement of these words that the promised one has come and will return.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.“
Isaiah 9:6-7 ESV
