WestCoast Challenge: Vancouver Church Planting Team Expands
Ray Woodard
North American Mission Board Church Planting Catalyst - British Columbia
Over the summer God has grown our church planting team in Vancouver!
Our God has provided an answer to our Luke 10:2 praying to cast out workers into the harvest. Pray for strong friendships and supportive actions from our family of churches as they invest their lives in our joint mission to reach the lost of our city.
One of our own local planters, Jeff Phillips, has been called out by the North American Mission Board to serve as the Vancouver Send City Missionary to guide our partnership efforts in planting churches across Vancouver and Vancouver Island. His primary task will focus on telling the story of God’s work in our great cities and inviting partners to pray, send volunteers and provide resources that will help us to plant multiple churches for all kinds of people in all kinds of places. Jeff and his family have been a part of our work for five years and bring a great balance of understanding our context and our partners to this critical task. He will serve as our direct liaison to the North American Mission Board. He will also continue to be the lead planter for the The Crossings Church in downtown Vancouver. Jeff’s wife, Sarah, and their two children, Emma and Tye are active in reaching their friends with the gospel through serving in their schools, community and sports networks across downtown Vancouver.
The Tim Corbin Family arrived in July. Moving here from Seattle, Tim brings ten (10) years of church planting experience in a large city as well as staff experience in the local church prior to moving into church planting. While in Seattle he directed their church planter basic training and networks in helping new planters become established on solid footing. As an Apprentice Church Planting Catalyst through partnership with the North American Mission Board, Tim’s primary role on our team will be to discover, develop, deploy and support church planters as we seek to build a network of multiplying churches across our region. His wife, Amy, and their three daughters, Rylie, Madison, and Taitlyn, have been active partners in his ministry. They have found a new home in the False Creek area close to the skytrain for quick access to all parts of the city.
