Monday Morning Manna: Anxious Over Manna

Amazing how I have become so dependent to something I’d never heard of a few years ago. Eight years ago I began writing a Monday morning, one paragraph, spiritual jump-start for the week. It was first called, Dr. Dan’s Monday Morning Memo, then we changed the word “Memo” to “Manna” but writing it became a part of my routine, as reading it became a part of the routine of hundreds, maybe thousands, of people (Since many of my readers forward the Manna to their friends, and others post it on various websites, I have no idea how many actually read each Monday). A few weeks ago, my internet provider malfunctioned and the Manna was not mailed out, nor could it be accessed on the Internet. It disrupted my life. I began to receive dozens of e-mails, calls, and text messages saying friends did not get their Manna, or could not access the web site to read their Monday Manna. I had to re-access how dependent I had become on one simple task that I both loved performing, and through which I loved ministering. Then God reminded me to, “Be anxious for nothing” (Philippians 4:6). I thought, “Lord, does this verse, learned so many years ago, and applied to so many things over the span of my years, even apply to my little internet paragraph?” “Yes!” He affirmed. So, I’m happy the Manna is back on schedule, and even happier that I learned once again a lesson of being anxious, “for nothing.”
