Pray Vancouver

We invite you to pray for these items whenever you have the opportunity to pray. Each day at 10:02 am/pm, we invite you to join a growing group who pause briefly wherever they are to pray for God to call out workers for the harvest in the manner of Luke 10:2 This week please pray that in our churches we would hear a word from God and experience Him – we pray that the spark of renewal in the hearts of the worship leaders will ignite a fresh flame of the Spirit in each of their churches as they guide worship this morning. Pray these words of scripture over our city:

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

Do what it says..... James 1:22

Pray with Thanksgiving…

We are thankful for the 120+ worship leaders from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington State who participated in the Equip Worship Conference this weekend. We are thankful for renewed hearts, informed minds and developed skills of each participant but we are especially thankful for the celebration of unity in the lives of our people this experience has offered. We continue to pray for the visiting leaders as they fan out across the city to share in our churches.

We are thankfully praying for the three (3) new leaders God is calling out to return to Vancouver and launch new work to penetrate lostness among the people of Pakistan, Afghanistan and in the area of Kitsilano. Pray for the clarity of God’s call to be confirmed as each one goes through the assessment process.

We are celebrating a significant gift to one of our leaders that will allow them to complete the immigration process and remain on the field.

We are celebrating our cooperation with our brothers and sisters in Seattle, Portland and the Northwest Baptist Convention as one of the leaders who has been working in Seattle for the past nine years, Tim Corbin and his family, will be joining our team next month. Tim was prayed over and affirmed at a Northwest regional meeting this past week and sent out to us.

Pray for the activity of God…

We are praying for wisdom and confirmation among leadership as we begin to seek the Father in determining the return to Vancouver next year of the Equip Conference.

We are praying for the new leaders coming to The Point and their process of immigration as well as guiding their beginning days of ministry in Vancouver. We continue to pray for the leadership of God and the financial resources to purchase the new HUB site they are seeking.

We are praying for the three (3) team mobilizers for this summer’s Gen Send program that will begin their orientation and preparation this week in Vancouver prior to the full teams arriving later this summer. Pray for the local planters and pastors who are joining together to aid in the training of these great potential leaders. Pray for a unity of spirit and a teachable heart in each one of this team of leaders as they explore various parts of the city to determine what God desires to do in and through them.

We are praying for the leadership of three (3) possible partner churches who will be arriving next week with Dr. Crawford and Steve Seaberry from Texas to meet and pray with leaders in our area about possible partnership together in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island.

We ask that this week we pray for our leaders and their families as many are coming against difficult situations:

Last week we prayed for the aunt of Brad Forlow, The River Community, as she continued to recover from a serious fall in Alaska while on holiday. This week she returned home to Florida but bleeding in the brain was discovered and she has been hospitalized again. Pray for the aunt and this family.

A few days ago Mikaela Martens, the daughter of Pastor John Martens (The Connection, Westlynn Baptist Church, Coquitlam Chinese Baptist Church), was involved in an accident. While working on a puzzle on their dining room table the chandelier (which weighs about 30 pounds) fell directly on her head. She has been in a lot of pain and has some sort of concussion. She has been sleeping nearly constantly. Yesterday she tried to walk around a little bit but ended up with severe head and stomach pain. Please pray for her speedy recovery. Pray too that she will have peace even in her pain. The doctors are saying that this could take several weeks to a month.

We have been praying for Flavius and Dina Jeler, Bethel Romanian, for the past several years as she has been battling brain cancer. They continue to pray for God’s intervention in each step of the process. Doctors have told them the decline in her health may only leave her with a couple of months of life left. They continue with great thankfulness and hope in the love of God to see them through these days. May we invite you to join us in lifting them up.

A faithful leader of one of our churches is staying by the bedside of his mother as she lives out the last few days of her life in a local hospital. Pray for this family as they walk these last steps with their mother.
