2016 Summer Youth Celebration

Dear Parents,

This summer we are hosting our ninteenth annual BC Summer Youth Celebration (BC SYC 2016) and we would like to invite your children who have completed grade 7 through grade 12 to this week of excitement, August 29 to Sept 2. This special week’s purpose is to provide a camp where students and leaders experience and learn to Encounter Jesus, Follow Him, and Make Him Known.

This life changing adventure takes place in a setting of fun and recreation at Gardom Lake Bible Camp in Enderby. Our theme this year is, “Freedom – No Longer Slaves” and our focus passage is Psalm 23. The speakers at the camp will be Tim Corbin and Josh Arrington and our worship leader is Willis Wong.

SYC is for Christian and non-Christian youth. Whether your child is a mature Christians or just beginning to explore spiritual matters– there will be elements of challenging discipleship along with sensitive teaching of the basics of being a follower of Jesus Christ. Here are some of the powerful components of SYC that we pray God will use to inspire us to know Him:

• Dynamic Bible teaching presented each day by the camp speakers
• Vibrant praise and meaningful worship led by enthusiastic musicians
• Interactive small groups led by dedicated youth leaders. Students will be able to dig into the God’s Word and apply it to their lives with their peers through interesting and thought provoking activities.
• Adventurous recreational and elective options that include: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, basketball, volleyball, climbing wall, archery, ropes courses, and soccer.

Your church will need to send a youth leader with your child and youth from your church. If your child is the only one attending from your church, please contact Alfred to see what possible arrangements can be made.

For churches with multiple registrations, we ask each church to send in all of them at one time with one cheque. This year, we have an early bird deadline of June 26 ($230) and a final deadline of Aug 7 ($260). Registrations postmarked after Aug 7 will not be accepted. It is essential to know the numbers coming so we can prepare accordingly. Please send in your registration as soon as possible. When the camp is full, we will be unable to accept any more registrations. Thank you for understanding.

If you are from Metro Vancouver and would be interested in taking a bus to camp, please contact Brian Lee (briantylee@gmail.com). There will be an additional $30 cost for this transportation.
