WestCoast Challenge: Don’t Run Alone
2015 Semi-Annual Gathering

How many of you have trained for a 5 or 10 K run? Well, I did and that was at the start of this new year when I decided to train for the Sun Run. You have to know that I am not a runner and barely go for walks let alone run but I decided to train for it and I trained alone. I still remember that morning where I got into my colored time zone along with 33,000 other runners. Just when I thought that I was going to run this 10 K alone, I bumped into a member of the worship team that I’d led years ago. We chatted about our training, took a bunch of pictures and we started our run together. Although we did not cross the finish line together, we ran together and we finished the race.
In Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church, he writes to them to run the race in such a way as to win the prize. One such way to win the prize is to not run alone but to run alongside with others. We will all cross that finish line at different times but that race is the life journey of ministry that God has called us to. So my fellow laborers in Christ, let us all fix our eyes on Him and run alongside with others who are also passionate in rescuing the lost and extending God’s kingdom. Like all races, it is hard work and it can be very dark and lonely at times but when we run together, we have the opportunity and privilege to encourage one another, laugh at ourselves along this journey, marvel at what God is doing along the way and see lives transformed in this life journey of ministry.
So come alongside and run with others. Form your own peer or cluster groups with other planters and pastors if need be, and engage with the larger community of the association. Together, we can be and do more because we run together. See you all at our next annual gathering where we get to celebrate God and His goodness in our lives.
